Install a Script
Scripts come as .jsx or .jsxbin files and are installed
directly inside After Effects. Follow these steps to get set up.
Installation steps
- Download your script — after purchase you'll receive a download
link via email. Save the
.jsxor.jsxbinfile somewhere easy to find. - Open After Effects and go to File → Scripts → Install Script File…
- Locate the file you downloaded and click Open. After Effects will copy it into the correct Scripts folder automatically.
- Restart After Effects to make the script available.
- Run your script by going to File → Scripts → [Script Name].
Allow scripts to write files and access the network
Some scripts need permission to read and write files or connect to the internet (for license validation). To enable this:
- Go to Edit → Preferences → Scripting & Expressions (on Mac: After Effects → Settings → Scripting & Expressions)
- Check "Allow Scripts to Write Files and Access Network"
- Click OK and restart After Effects
Can't find the script after installing?
If the script doesn't appear under File → Scripts, try installing it manually by copying the file into your After Effects Scripts folder:
- macOS:
/Applications/Adobe After Effects [version]/Scripts/ - Windows:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects [version]\Support Files\Scripts\
