Install a Script

Scripts come as .jsx or .jsxbin files and are installed directly inside After Effects. Follow these steps to get set up.

Installation steps

  1. Download your script — after purchase you'll receive a download link via email. Save the .jsx or .jsxbin file somewhere easy to find.
  2. Open After Effects and go to File → Scripts → Install Script File…
  3. Locate the file you downloaded and click Open. After Effects will copy it into the correct Scripts folder automatically.
  4. Restart After Effects to make the script available.
  5. Run your script by going to File → Scripts → [Script Name].

Allow scripts to write files and access the network

Some scripts need permission to read and write files or connect to the internet (for license validation). To enable this:

  1. Go to Edit → Preferences → Scripting & Expressions (on Mac: After Effects → Settings → Scripting & Expressions)
  2. Check "Allow Scripts to Write Files and Access Network"
  3. Click OK and restart After Effects

Can't find the script after installing?

If the script doesn't appear under File → Scripts, try installing it manually by copying the file into your After Effects Scripts folder:

  • macOS: /Applications/Adobe After Effects [version]/Scripts/
  • Windows: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects [version]\Support Files\Scripts\
